on Friday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has suspended the notification of the ban on showing Imran Khan’s speech live.
The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday suspended the notification of the ban on showing Imran Khan’s speech live on TV and ordered to give an explanation. The government announced last week that YouTube and other social media platforms had been banned from broadcasting clips of his political speeches, claiming it would prevent supporters from using them for militant purposes.
The Islamabad High Court on Tuesday suspended the notification of the ban on showing Imran Khan’s speech live, following which it emerged that the media block would be lifted if no order was passed by 13:30pm. The court made the announcement after hearing a petition by concerned parties and sending it to a commission for further action.

The secretary of ministry of information and broadcasting had issued orders for banning live transmission of speeches delivered by Mr. Khan and other political leaders from across the country, but the Court issued a stay order on Wednesday asking them to hold further hearing on this issue.
Pakistan’s High Court has suspended a notification authorizing media outlets to show Imran Khan’s speech live on TV. The government claims that it was given to give people an “opportunity” to watch the prime minister’s address, but in doing so they are infringing on his privacy by broadcasting his words. Many argue this is a way of silencing dissenters.

Pakistan’s Supreme Court on Monday suspended the notification issued by Islamabad High Court (IHC) banning airing Imran Khan’s speech live.The meeting was chaired by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar who asked the Attorney General to inform him about the steps taken by him to verify the matter, addressing a large number of lawyers at Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazal (JUI-F) office.
Later, IHC ordered to refrain from issuing any further order regarding live transmission of prime minister’s speeches till today.”After taking a serious notice of your petition dated 7th October 2019, we direct you not to issue any further order regarding live transmission of prime court proceedings till today and remain adjourned in this matter,” said Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Shah
